(NWSA), Reuters reported Thursday, citing court filings and testimony tied to the Murdoch family succession dispute. The documents show Rupert Murdoch pursued a recombination of Fox and News Corp. in 2022, nearly a decade after splitting the companies, but the effort collapsed when investors objected, Reuters said. In a June hearing, an attorney for Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch argued merger-related discussions should remain sealed because it is "something that still could happen in the future," the report said. There have been no merger talks between the two companies since the 2022 discussions referenced in the court records, Fox was quoted as saying. A combination would reunite major assets including Fox News, Fox's broadcast network, the Wall Street Journal, the Sun and the New York Post, Reuters said.
