Steadright Critical Minerals granted mining licence for Morocco titanium project

Steadright Critical Minerals (CSE: SCM) said Thursday the company has been granted the Mining Licence for its TitanBeach titanium project in Morocco.

Exploration at the 192 sq/km TitanBeach project in 2025 revealed the existence of potential ilmenite, titanomagnetite, magnetite, leucoxene and rutile bearing sands with Fe2O3 values of up to 79.5% and TiO2 as high as 14.9%, the company said at the time.

Considered a critical mineral by the US, EU and Canada because it is essential for defense, aerospace, medical, and industrial technologies, titanium has a unique strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance with few substitutes.

Titanium is used in two distinctly different forms: as titanium dioxide (TiO2) for pigments and as titanium metal alloyed for aerospace applications.

The license, which was granted by Moroccon authorities through NSM Capital Sarl, a company in which Steadright has a 76.5% stake, “represents a significant first for Morocco in terms of the scale of the designated area covered by such a mining approval,” Steadright said in a news release.

The approved project area covers approximately 4 kilometres by 4 kilometres, representing a total area of approximately 16 square kilometres, CEO Matt Lewis said.
