Eurozone Q2 final GDP confirmed to grow by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter, marking the strongest performance since 2025

(1) In the second quarter, the eurozone's gross domestic product grew by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter, consistent with the initial estimate and showing a significant acceleration from zero growth in the previous quarter, marking the strongest quarterly expansion since the first quarter of 2025. Investment related to artificial intelligence, robust government spending, and one-off factors offset the impact of the Iran conflict and rising energy costs. (2) Among the major economies, Spain led with 0.7% quarterly growth, up from 0.6% previously and exceeding expectations; the Netherlands grew by 0.4%, twice the expected rate; France rebounded to 0.2% growth after contracting by 0.1% the previous quarter; Germany and Italy both recorded 0.2% growth, slightly slower than the previous quarter but both surpassing market expectations. (3) Year-on-year, the eurozone's economic growth rate accelerated from the previous (revised) result of 0.5% to 1.0%, in line with the initial estimate.
