Winnebago Industries to Relocate Production Operations Within Indiana, Iowa

Winnebago Industries will relocate some of its production operations as part of an effort to optimize its manufacturing footprint.

The company said it will shift its production of Winnebago brand towable RVs to a nearby campus within Middlebury, Ind. where Grand Design RV products are currently made. The Grand Design RV business will look to consolidate certain lines within its manufacturing footprint as part of the shift, Winnebago said Thursday.

Winnebago will also move production of its B-Van products to its primary facility in Forest City, Iowa, away from its previous home in Lake Mills, Iowa.

The Lake Mills facility and the Winnebago Towables facility in Middlebury will both be closed and put up for sale, Winnebago said.

"These actions reflect our commitment to thoughtfully managing our manufacturing footprint, leveraging the strengths of our portfolio and deploying resources where they can create the greatest value," Chief Executive Officer Michael Happe said.

The Winnebago Towables and Grand Design business will remain distinct despite the manufacturing consolidation, the company said.

Winnebago said it doesn't expect the changes to disrupt its production.
