Behind the gold standard for institutional crypto yield

Radiant Prime provides a practical example of the emerging model for institutional crypto yield: a differentiated market-neutral strategy supported by independent verification, onchain data, vault controls and allocator access.

Yield markets have already shown investors two very different ways things can go wrong.

In DeFi, the appeal is relatively easy to understand. Much of the activity happens onchain, so investors can potentially see where capital is deployed, how heavily lending pools are being used and which smart contracts govern the strategy. If a vault advertises an 8% yield, there is at least a chance to trace where that return is coming from.

Seeing the machinery, however, does not make it safe. Yield can still depend on smart contracts, bridges and external verification infrastructure. A failure anywhere in that chain can put investor capital at risk, while liquidity constraints can make withdrawals difficult even when the underlying systems work as intended.

In April 2026, attackers exploited KelpDAO’s rsETH bridge for roughly $292 million by compromising offchain infrastructure used to verify cross-chain messages. Kelp had previously described its restaking platform as institutional-grade. The smart contracts themselves worked as designed; false verification data caused the bridge to release rsETH without a corresponding burn.

Risk may emerge without anything being hacked or malfunctioning. A lending market can continue advertising an attractive rate even when most of its deposited assets have already been borrowed, making exits harder precisely when investors may want them most.

A wider playbook, a higher bar for verification

Offchain strategies create a different verification problem. They can draw on a much broader set of trades, from secured lending to derivatives and OTC transactions. But investors may have little ability to independently verify the positions producing the reported return and instead have to rely heavily on manager-provided data.

In June 2026, Main Street Finance’s msUSD lost its peg after its third-party proof-of-reserves dashboard shut down. Accountable later ended its verification services after saying Main Street had failed to provide adequate proof of reserves. Main Street maintained that its assets remained fully backed.

Modest yields make the additional technology, liquidity and counterparty risk harder to justify. Most stablecoin lending protocols in DeFi offer yields ranging from 2.5% to 5%. In comparison, US Treasury bills were yielding 3.96% for 26 weeks on a coupon-equivalent basis as of Aug. 6, 2026. Taking substantially more technology, liquidity or counterparty risk for a comparable return raises an obvious question: What should investors actually be getting in exchange for that risk?

Creating a higher standard for yield

Institutional yield earns its reputation through rigorous strategy selection, robust security, disciplined risk controls, independent verification and clear reporting. Yet products built to these standards have traditionally remained behind high entry thresholds, private relationships and complex onboarding.

Onchain infrastructure can preserve that rigor while widening access. A set of companies have come together to make this a reality. Starting first with Shyft, an emerging wealth management platform, it brings the necessary components into a single investment framework rather than building each one itself. It sources strategies from professional managers, curates them for investors and provides a common interface through which allocators can access and monitor opportunities spanning basis trading, private credit, T-bills and DeFi lending.

Ember provides the underlying vault and smart-contract infrastructure for that framework. It standardizes how capital enters each strategy, how investor ownership is represented and how performance is reflected in vault shares. Permissioned access, withdrawal controls, oracle validation and continuous monitoring give Shyft a consistent foundation for delivering strategies from very different environments.

From strategy to verification

Radiant Prime supplies the strategy layer. Its market-neutral strategy looks for relative-value opportunities rather than depending mainly on token incentives or passive lending spreads. For professional allocators, that approach also puts market, liquidity and counterparty risk management alongside return generation. As trading takes place through centralized exchanges, though, the strategy introduces a familiar CeFi problem: the positions themselves are not fully visible onchain.

RedStone connects directly to the exchange accounts where Radiant Prime trades and processes the portfolio data independently. Allocators can check reported NAV and PnL against the underlying account activity, while Radiant Prime keeps its trading logic private.

Onchain vaults still need reliable information about what assets and positions are worth. Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure can publish market prices, NAV and other financial data onchain, while Proof of Reserve can be used to verify backing and even trigger automated controls when predefined conditions are not met. That extends onchain transparency beyond assets that already live entirely on a blockchain.

Yield Network focuses on the allocator-facing side. It applies due diligence to strategies, helps structure vault terms and brings them to professional LPs through a curated distribution network. Its diligence covers audits, withdrawal mechanics, legal structure, risk analysis and the underlying source of return. Where needed, it can also coordinate access to vault infrastructure while investors retain custody of their own capital.

No single provider covers the full set of functions professional allocators require, from strategy and verification to secure delivery and access. Radiant Prime provides a pragmatic example of how those functions can elevate a differentiated strategy into a more institutionally usable product. Its market-neutral strategy sits within a wider framework of independent verification, onchain data, vault controls and allocator access, with Shyft providing the investment framework that brings those functions together.
