After half a year of volatile adjustments, bottoming signals in the gold market are beginning to emerge. Looking ahead, many institutions believe that despite gold prices still being suppressed by U.S. bond yields and likely to maintain a bottoming trend in the short term, central bank gold purchases and the global "de-dollarization" trend are steadily building momentum for long-term growth.
According to the World Gold Council's recently released Q2 2026 "Global Gold Demand Trends Report," in the second quarter global central banks and other official institutions had a net increase in gold reserves of 289 tons, a year-on-year increase of 62%. Several countries have increased their central bank gold purchases, highlighting the important role of gold in official reserves.
