South Korean stock market’s early gains narrow as foreign investors continue to sell large-cap tech stocks, offsetting dip buying

(1) On Monday morning, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened up by 0.76% before narrowing its gains. As of 11:20 a.m. local time, the index had further risen by 25.15 points (an increase of 0.4%), reaching 6,283.92 points.(2) Foreign investors continued to sell large-cap technology stocks, with a net sell-off of approximately 619.7 billion Korean won (about 437.8 million US dollars).(3) Retail and institutional investors attempted to buy on dips, with a combined net purchase of 598.2 billion Korean won, but this was largely offset by foreign investors’ selling.
