Treasury Yields Fall After July Job Losses -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/08/07 19:581558 ET - Treasury yields fall after a weaker-than-expected jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which showed the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July. Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin says the jobs report was consistent with how he has seen the state of the labor force. "I think this was very consistent with how I've been seeing the labor market, which is it's not loose, it's not tight, it's sort of in a weak balance, if I could put it that way," he said in a fireside chat. The July unemployment rate ticked lower to 4.1%. The 2-year yield declined 0.087 percentage point to 4.203% this week. The 10-year yield declined 0.086 percentage point to 4.657% this week.
