BMW starts series production of new i3 after Munich plant expansion under Neue Klasse program

- Upgrades included a new body shop, a new assembly hall, expanded logistics space, and a new delivery hall now being commissioned.
- Manufacturing costs at the Munich plant are set to fall a further 10% with the i3 production ramp-up.
- Munich is scheduled to switch to producing only battery-electric vehicles from 2027.
- BMW’s new Irlbach-Straßkirchen plant will supply sixth-generation high-voltage batteries to Munich under a local-for-local strategy.
