(1) India's 10-year benchmark government bond yield declined as Brent crude oil fell below $80, once reaching an intraday low of 6.7638%. Influenced by the Reserve Bank of India's dovish stance, yields rebounded about 3 basis points from that level. Traders believe the 6.75% mark acts as strong support.(2) A private bank trader stated that there may not necessarily be selling in the short term, but buyers are reluctant to purchase below 6.75%, making this level a “bottom line.” Although the central bank's decision to keep interest rates unchanged was in line with expectations, its clear commitment to ensuring ample liquidity in the banking system provides the market with some buffer.(3) Ongoing fluctuations in oil prices and US Treasury yields will continue to suppress aggressive directional bets. Economists expect the central bank to remain on hold in October, but a December rate hike is now being considered, potentially limiting the downside for yields in the medium term. The tug-of-war near current price levels will depend on the combined effects of oil price movements, foreign capital flows, and the pace of central bank liquidity management.
