Sandoz Is Benefiting From Strength in U.S. and Biosimilars -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/08/05 07:290729 GMT - Sandoz Group benefited from a strong U.S. performance and from fast growth in sales of biosimilar drugs in the first half, which is also boosting its profitability, says Vontobel's Stefan Schneider in a research note. While overall sales and profitability for the Swiss maker of generic drugs were in line with consensus expectations, its sales growth in the U.S. and the biosimilar segment beat both consensus and Vontobel's estimates, the analyst says. "This is also remarkable, as the U.S. and biosimilars were highlighted as the center for value creation when Sandoz was spun off in 2023," Schneider says. Since biosimilars carry a higher profit margin than generics, strong biosimilar sales helped Sandoz's first-half core Ebitda margin, he adds. Shares are up 7.7%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
