Golden Ten Data Futures reported on May 20 that on Wednesday, May 20, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) closed lower again, dragged down by falling freight rates across all vessel segments. The Baltic Dry Index fell by 49 points, or 1.6%, to 3,005 points. The Capesize Index (BCI) dropped 69 points, or 1.4%, to 4,880 points. Average daily earnings for Capesize vessels decreased by $625 to $40,760. The Panamax Index (BPI) fell by 85 points, or 3.5%, to 2,374 points. Average daily earnings for Panamax vessels decreased by $764 to $21,367. The Supramax Index (BSI) dropped 2 points, or 0.1%, to 1,566 points.
