With the U.S. midterm elections approaching, the White House is vigorously promoting the Crypto Market Structure Bill
BlockBeats News, April 16, according to The Hill, the White House appears to be eager to resolve the dispute between the banking industry and the crypto industry, a conflict that has blocked Senate negotiations on the legislation since January this year.
Key officials both inside and outside the U.S. government—from Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, to White House crypto advisor Patrick White, to former head of AI and crypto affairs David Sachs—have recently called for the bill to be passed. Meanwhile, the Council of Economic Advisers released a report refuting the concerns raised by the banking industry.
However, it is still unclear whether the White House's push will be enough to overcome the issues plaguing the bill, as these problems go beyond the narrow industry dispute that has dominated discussions over the past three months.
Christopher Niebuhr, senior research analyst at Beacon Policy Advisors, stated in an interview: "From a timing perspective, their judgment makes sense—if Congress has a chance to advance the market structure bill, now is that opportunity."
