According to Bloomberg, Global Payments spent $24.25 billion to acquire all shares of payment giant Worldpay, with 45% coming from FIS and 55% from private equity firm GTCR. As part of the transaction, FIS will acquire Global Payments' issuer solutions business, valued at $13.5 billion. GTCR will complete the sale with 59% cash and 41% stock consideration, and will hold a 15% stake in Global Payments after the merger, continuously participating in future strategic development. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
