billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya stated in an online conference that approximately 8,000 Google quantum chips would be needed to crack SHA-256. Earlier today, Palihapitiya posted on X, stating "quantum computing poses a risk to the v1 encryption method, but the time frame is very unclear and not in the near future."
