Ethernet Developers Introduce Mekong Test Network to Try Out Pectra Upgrade

Bitget2024/11/07 13:32

On November 7, Ethernet developers introduced a temporary test network called Mekong for the Pectra upgrade. The test network is designed to try out specific code changes before deploying them to other public test networks and eventually to the main network.
The test network is intended to explore the impact of these changes, according to a blog post by an EtherCore developer. The post notes that while the test network will run for a short period of time, it is considered fully functional for Pectra and contains all proposed EIPs. the developer notes, “We may see some minor spec changes or smaller EIPs, but the functionality contained herein will make its way into the existing public test network and ultimately into the main EtherCore network. ”
Initially, the Pectra upgrade program contained 20 proposed Ether enhancements, but that number has been scaled back to about eight. These changes focus on improving the user experience and network efficiency as Pectra launches on the main network.
The main changes being tested include improving the user experience for crypto wallets and account abstractions, increasing the maximum pledge limit for verifiers from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH, and updating the deposit and withdrawal mechanisms.
