Trump: Bitcoin miners contribute to stabilizing the energy supply of the power grid
Matthew Schultz, Executive Chairman of Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc., said that several Bitcoin miners met with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday evening. Schultz stated that Trump told the attendees he loves and understands cryptocurrency, adding that Bitcoin miners help stabilize the energy supply of the power grid. Trump indicated he would advocate for miners in the White House. The meeting comes as crypto miners face strong opposition due to a range of issues including climate change and its impact on local power grids. The Democratic Party has been leading efforts to intensify scrutiny over energy consumption and carbon emissions from Bitcoin mining, while Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been a high-profile supporter of this industry.
