All three major U.S. stock indexes hit record closing highs as Fed leaves rates unchanged

The Federal Reserve left the target range for the federal funds rate unchanged between 5.25% and 5.5%. The three major U.S. stock indexes closed collectively higher, with the Nasdaq up 1.25%, the Dow up 1.03%, and the S&P 500 up 0.89%; all hitting record closing highs. Large technology stocks rose.
