Reuters Amsterdam, October 14 - The world's leading computer chip equipment manufacturer ASML (ASML.AS) Chief Financial Officer said on Wednesday that the company opposes a proposal by the US Congress to restrict its sales of deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machines to China, calling it a bad idea.
During a conference call with reporters after the company announced its third-quarter results (link), Chief Financial Officer Roger Dassen said that if the "March Act" passes after the US midterm elections, it would accelerate China's domestic development of competing technologies.
He added that he was “optimistic that common sense will eventually prevail.”
