International Women's Day: Bitget's Crypto Anti-Bias Pledge

Press release

This Women's Day, take your Anti-Bias Pledge.
"You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for our own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think can be most useful."-Marie Curie
In a world full of shorts and longs, I found people who were shaping the next generation of young minds. Almost goes without saying, it's the time when we joined hands with UNICEF. Under a simple belief, committed to equipping girls with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) skills.
Ever so often, I ponder why I entered the world of finance and how it completely changed the trajectory of my life. People who believed in me, mentors who trained me, learnings from my mistakes, and feedback from my peers; it's what made me the CEO of the biggest Universal exchange platform. Although it has been a hard journey, it's still a part of my privilege. Something most women with similar skills as me don't get.
I studied applied mathematics because I believed markets, at their core, reward performance, but numbers don't care about background or perception - they only reflect outcomes. That belief is part of what eventually brought me into Web3. I saw an industry built on transparency, decentralization, and the promise of open access to ALL.
WEF research shows that, currently, we're experiencing a global wealth transfer, with $83 trillion set to pass within and between generations, positioning women to control an unprecedented share of global financial wealth. Yet in the crypto space, women account for roughly a quarter of users. Female-led startups receive a small fraction of industry funding. If we are building financial infrastructure for the future, we have to ask whether it is fully engaging the market it intends to serve.
Over the past few years, I've had the honour of working alongside extraordinary women who are leaders, engineers, traders, and founders in this industry. Their talent has never been an issue. What has been uneven is access.
Bitget's study found that female-led startups receive only 6% of total blockchain funding. At the same time, broader research shows that female founders often deliver 2.5X ROI per dollar invested. The Web3 industry prides itself on efficiency, but efficiency requires that capital flows towards merit, not the patriarchy. This structural imbalance needs to be corrected.
Exclusion is often subtle. Sometimes it is knowledge-based. Women in technical and financial fields are often required to prove credibility more rigorously. Questions are framed differently, and the interpretation of success differs.
And sometimes, it is structural. Hiring pipelines rely on referrals, while investment decisions circulate within tight networks. Products are designed and tested by homogeneous user groups and then assumed to reflect universal demand.
While rarely intentional, these patterns compound over time.
It is tempting to describe this imbalance as a "pipeline problem," the idea that not enough women are entering the space. In my experience, that framing oversimplifies the issue. Talent exists. The question is whether opportunity pathways are equally accessible.
"Every year, adolescent girls and young women in low and middle-income countries miss out on $15 billion in economic opportunities due to the digital gender gap." - UNICEF
Today, we take a pledge to be anti-biased in our fight against gender disparity and to be a playground for women to build the next revolution in financial systems. Here's how:
-
Education and support: Through its partnership with UNICEF, Bitget is helping equip 300,000 people with blockchain and digital skills, around 90% of whom are girls and women, helping to widen access to the future of finance from the ground up. From here, we will continue to build on our "Lady forward" belief under our $10M Blockchain4Her initiative.
-
Equal pay, equal opportunity: At Bitget, fairness is measured through outcomes. In 2026, the company’s highest scorers were female employees, reflecting a performance culture where advancement and reward are driven by merit.
-
Zero tolerance for harassment: With over 40% of our top managerial positions being held by women, harassment and discrimination have no place in the workplaces and communities shaping the future of finance. A zero-tolerance approach is essential to protect talent, uphold dignity, and create environments where women can lead and thrive.
Blockchain was built on ideals of decentralization, transparency, and equal access. Those ideals must apply not only to technology, but to people.
Women must know that their participation in cryptospace is integral to its growth. The future of finance requires your leadership, innovation, and perspective.
Mass adoption is achieved when the system reflects the market it serves.
If women influence the majority of economic decisions and control a growing share of global wealth, yet remain underrepresented as users, builders, and funded founders, then our growth ceiling is self-imposed. The opportunity is to build a financial infrastructure that is designed for the full spectrum of global participation.
The future of this industry will be defined by how deliberately we build inclusion into our systems.
That makes them truly, universal.
