- On Wednesday, U.S. natural gas prices rose to $3.06 per million British thermal units, supported by increased liquefied natural gas export activity.
- Over the past two weeks, average feed gas deliveries to the nine major liquefied natural gas export plants were about 19.2 billion cubic feet per day, with the flow so far this month at 18.3 billion cubic feet per day, higher than September’s 17.9 billion cubic feet per day.
- Rising U.S. liquefied natural gas demand from European and Asian buyers has also supported prices, as both regions rush to secure supply ahead of winter.
- However, forecasts show that temperatures across two-thirds of the eastern United States are above normal, which may limit heating demand in the coming weeks and cap price gains.
- On the supply side, so far in October, production in the 48 contiguous U.S. states has averaged 112 billion cubic feet per day, below the record 113.3 billion cubic feet per day seen in August and September, though output has rebounded to about 113.5 billion cubic feet per day over the past week.
