Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASM International significantly raised its 2027 revenue target by approximately 24% on Tuesday.

According to information from Zhitong Finance APP, Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASM International (ASMIY.US) on Tuesday significantly raised its 2027 revenue target by about 24%. Driven by the boom in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investment, the company anticipates reaching its originally planned 2030 revenue target three years ahead of schedule, highlighting the ongoing strong global demand for advanced chip manufacturing equipment.

ASM International stated in a release that, calculated at constant exchange rates, it expects revenue in 2027 to exceed €5.7 billion (approximately $6.3 billion), significantly higher than the forecast of over €4.6 billion announced in July this year.

The company pointed out that next year’s growth momentum will mainly come from strong demand among memory chip and advanced logic chip manufacturers. As tech companies continue to expand AI data centers, demand for related chips is rising rapidly, driving semiconductor manufacturers to accelerate capacity expansion and increase investment in advanced production equipment.

ASM International mainly produces semiconductor manufacturing equipment for depositing thin films on wafer surfaces, a critical step in the chip production process. As customers expand capacity and seek to improve semiconductor performance and energy efficiency, the company is receiving more equipment orders.

Chief Executive Officer Hichem M’Saad commented: “The demand environment remains very strong. Our customers are generally facing capacity constraints and are taking swift action to boost output.”

At the same time, the company announced a share buyback program of up to €300 million to further bolster market confidence. Driven by strong performance and outlook, ASM International’s American Depositary Receipts (ADR) surged significantly on Tuesday. By market close, its price had risen 7.89% to $836.74.

ASM International’s main customers include TSMC (TSM.US) and Intel (INTC.US). With the ongoing growth in AI chip demand, both companies are accelerating their capital spending plans. TSMC, which makes chips for tech giants like Nvidia (NVDA.US) and Apple (AAPL.US), plans to invest up to $64 billion in capital expenditures. Intel expects to invest about $20 billion this year in new factory construction and equipment purchases.

The AI investment boom is also driving business growth for other semiconductor equipment manufacturers. Dutch lithography giant ASML (ASML.US) said earlier this month that, as existing capacity cannot meet client demand for 2027 and 2028, it is expanding production capacity.

However, with global chip makers intensifying investments, the semiconductor equipment supply chain is also facing increasing pressure. ASM International warned on Tuesday that its supply chain is currently under strain, but the company is working closely with suppliers and customers to speed up equipment deliveries to meet rising market demand.

Looking at the latest financial performance, ASM International’s third quarter revenue grew 44% year-on-year at constant exchange rates, reaching €1.16 billion; net profit for the period fell to €308.1 million. According to data compiled by Bloomberg, both revenue and net profit surpassed the average analyst estimates.

Overall, as the construction of AI data centers continues to drive growing demand for advanced logic and memory chips, global semiconductor manufacturers are accelerating their capacity expansion, creating new growth opportunities for upstream equipment suppliers. ASM International’s sharp raise of its 2027 revenue target further reflects that the AI investment boom is steadily propagating through the semiconductor equipment industry chain.
