A large crypto investor made a series of significant purchases totaling $7.22 million over the past 24 hours, allocating funds across a mix of DeFi and real-world asset tokens, as well as a small allocation to a meme coin.
Whale invests $7.22 million in 9 altcoins, LIT leads gains
Key purchases and token performance
The whale’s largest investments included 378,129 LIT valued at $1.4 million, 6.61 million ENA for $1.34 million, and 3 million ONDO totaling $1.34 million. Substantial amounts were also committed to AERO ($948,000), ETH ($591,000), QNT ($589,000), UNI ($443,000), TAO ($368,000), and PEPE ($195,000).
| LIT | 378,129 | $1.4 million | $3.69 | +7% |
| ENA | 6.61 million | $1.34 million | $0.199 | -2.5% |
| ONDO | 3 million | $1.34 million | $0.435 | -4% |
| AERO | — | $948,000 | $0.807 | -4.6% |
| ETH | — | $591,000 | $2,428 | -1% |
Most of the allocations targeted small and mid-sized tokens rather than leading coins like Bitcoin, suggesting the investor may be seeking higher potential returns by focusing on less established assets.
Market movement since acquisition
Of the major purchases, LIT is the only token currently trading above the entry price. It recently traded at $3.69, around 7% higher in the last 24 hours. The investor bought LIT at approximately $3.70, making this position nearly at breakeven.
ENA, the token connected to stablecoin projects, is under pressure. It trades at $0.199, down 2.5% for the day. ENA experienced a sharp decline in the week leading up to October 18, falling from $0.2437 to $0.178, and although it has seen a modest rebound, it remains well below last week’s levels.
ONDO also dropped, trading at $0.435 after slipping over 4%. The change since October 17, when ONDO was around $0.449, has been relatively minor. AERO, another sizable holding, faced a 4.6% decrease to about $0.807, with the whale’s average entry near $0.82—resulting in a small loss so far.
ETH showed the steadiest movement among the tokens, with its price falling 1% to $2,428. The investor’s entry price was around $2,444, leaving the ETH trade nearly flat.
Investment rationale and outlook
Purchasing during market downturns is a strategy often used by large investors, who may view the tokens as undervalued after recent declines. Many of these coins, such as ENA, have pulled back sharply from previous highs.
The selection of tokens also fits active narratives in the sector. ENA and ONDO are linked to stablecoin infrastructure and tokenized real-world assets, UNI and AERO are major trading platforms, while TAO is tied to artificial intelligence.
Mini dictionary: Tokenized real-world assets, or RWA tokens, represent ownership of physical assets (such as real estate, commodities, or bonds) on blockchains, enabling broader access, increased liquidity, and efficient transfer of these traditionally illiquid asset classes.
Nearly all of the tokens were dropping at the time of purchase, highlighting a potential “buy the dip” strategy. However, whale activity does not guarantee upward price movement as large holders can quickly reverse positions. Altcoins, especially in the small to mid-cap range, often experience more volatile price swings than major cryptocurrencies.
One wallet accumulating a basket of declining altcoins could be aiming to exploit low prices, but the risks remain high since price swings are more dramatic among smaller tokens and whales may sell rapidly if market sentiment shifts.
Market observers are watching to see if this large investor continues to build positions in these tokens and whether ENA, AERO, and ONDO can stabilize after their recent declines.
