On Wednesday, Berkshire Hathaway’s Class B shares rose by 0.5% to $543.06, surpassing their previous record high set on May 2, 2025. After Warren Buffett announced his resignation as CEO on May 3, Berkshire’s stock price declined for several consecutive months. Following Abel’s succession and the resumption of share buybacks, along with the acquisition of Taylor Morrison’s residential assets and an investment in Alphabet focusing on AI, the new record high in the stock price signals that market confidence has recovered from the uncertainty surrounding Buffett’s departure.

Berkshire Hathaway's share price hit a new all-time high on Wednesday, signaling that market confidence in the company has gradually shifted from the shadow of Warren Buffett's departure toward an endorsement of the successor's leadership abilities.

Berkshire's Class B shares broke through their previous high set on May 2, 2025. On May 3, 2025, Buffett surprised investors, supporters, and even his own successor by announcing he would step down as CEO after nearly 60 years at the helm of the company.

Following this announcement, Berkshire's share price fell for several months, reflecting investor concerns that Buffett's departure could impact the performance of this diversified conglomerate.

As of press time, on Wednesday, Berkshire's Class B shares were up 0.5% to $542.6.

The share price rebound has also provided support for Buffett's successor, Greg Abel. Less than a year before Abel officially took over, the new head has already begun taking action and gradually displaying his own management style.

After restructuring the company's management team, the 64-year-old Abel began to deploy the massive cash reserves accumulated by his predecessor.

He reinstated the share buyback program and completed two multi-billion-dollar deals in succession: acquiring assets related to Taylor Morrison Home Corp. to expand Berkshire's residential construction business; and at the same time, supporting Alphabet—the parent company of Google—by investing in its artificial intelligence initiatives.

Berkshire is expected to release its third-quarter earnings report on November 7.
