(1) According to a report from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) obtained by Russian Satellite News Agency, despite ongoing tightening of sanctions against Russia, the EU in September once again became one of the top three buyers of Russian energy resources, spending 1.7 billion euros and exceeding Turkey. (2) Research shows that the largest buyer of Russian fossil fuels remains China, with purchases amounting to 9.1 billion euros; India ranks second with 4.1 billion euros; Turkey purchased 1 billion euros, ranking fourth. (3) In the EU's total procurement, 817 million euros were for pipeline natural gas, 615 million euros for liquefied natural gas, and another 290 million euros for oil supplied through the "Friendship" oil pipeline. (4) Among EU countries, the largest buyer is Hungary, at 475 million euros; France at 446 million euros; and Slovakia at 390 million euros. (5) The EU continues to implement restrictive measures against the Russian energy sector and has publicly declared its intention to abandon Russian supplies. (6) Moscow has repeatedly stated that Western sanctions have not achieved their intended goals, and that abandoning Russian energy is causing energy costs for European industry and people to rise.
