Multiple banks are vying to participate in a $4.25 billion debt financing to support Curium’s acquisition of radiopharmaceutical company Lantheus Holdings. The financing is expected to be syndicated to investors next year. According to informed sources, JPMorgan, one of Curium’s financial advisors, is leading the arrangement of this financing, and another financial advisor, Jefferies Financial Group, is also involved. The sources said that several other lending institutions are in talks to join the financing, and a larger bank syndicate is expected to form soon. Banks are competing for leveraged buyout financing deals because such transactions typically generate some of the highest fee income in investment banking. Participation in the deal also helps boost a bank’s ranking on league tables, which may in turn impact bankers’ bonuses.
