Anthropic reportedly scheduled pre-IPO Investor Day for October 14, targeting listing in November
Reportedly, as the listing date approaches, Anthropic plans to hold a pre-IPO investor day event.
According to information from insiders reported by Zhichong Finance APP, Anthropic PBC is scheduled to meet with potential investors on October 14 local time to prepare for its initial public offering (IPO). Despite increased scrutiny surrounding artificial intelligence safety, the company is still moving forward with a potential major listing plan.
Sources say that invitations to this event were just sent out recently, and a select group of institutional investors will have the opportunity to ask questions to the company’s executives. One of the insiders noted the event will be held at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.
This schedule would make it possible for the Claude developer to go public as early as the anticipated November listing. According to previous reports, Anthropic may formally begin promoting the IPO as soon as the week of November 9, which means trading could start before Thanksgiving.
Insiders caution that IPO details could still change, and because the related information has not yet been made public, they requested anonymity. A spokesperson for Anthropic declined to comment.
Although Anthropic’s Claude does not have the same brand recognition as competitor OpenAI’s ChatGPT, its strong adoption among enterprise users such as software developers is likely to deliver the stable revenue growth sought by many professional investors. Banks, hedge funds, and enterprise software providers such as Salesforce (CRM.US) have all partnered with Anthropic to integrate its tools into their workflows.
OpenAI, meanwhile, has delayed its IPO plans even as sales momentum has increased in recent months. According to previous reports from Bloomberg, the company is seeking to raise at least $30 billion in its latest funding round, with a valuation of about $140 billion.
Previously, sources indicated that investors believe a reasonable valuation for Anthropic is between $180 billion and $200 billion. The company expects the size of its IPO to match or surpass that of SpaceX.
Following a series of high-profile hacking incidents perpetrated by out-of-control intelligent agents, both Anthropic and OpenAI are facing increasing public scrutiny, raising concerns that this may impact Anthropic’s potential IPO.
